Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Expanding background checks to include guns purchased from private individuals. O* I believe that we have good gun laws on the books now.
2. Adding “sexual orientation,” “gender identity,” or “gender expression” to the protected classes of race, religion, age, sex, and ancestry in nondiscrimination law. O* I don’t believe that gender is an expression. It’s a biological issue.
3. Prohibiting abortion except when it is necessary to prevent the death of the mother. S* I am pro life and I believe life begins at conception. We should do everything we can to protect the lives of the unborn.
4. Allowing biological males that identify as transgender to play on female sports teams. O* I think this would destroy female sports.
5. Providing state funding to abortion entities that perform or refer for abortion. O* No. State tax dollars should not go to entities that perform abortions.
6. Allowing all parents to use tax credits, vouchers, or education savings accounts to enable their children to attend any public, charter, private, homeschool, or online academy. S* I think allowing parents the rights to chose where their child goes to school is vital for the success of the child in their education.
7. Legalizing physician-assisted suicide. O* I am pro life. Drs should not help anyone kill themselves.
8. Allowing parents to seek professional counseling for their minor child with same-sex attraction or gender identity issues. O* This one is difficult, I believe that parents have the right to get counseling for their child when the parent feels the child needs it. However, to get counseling to help them “transition “ is a no. The child may need help though. I would need to know more details on this.
9. Protecting individuals and businesses from being required to provide services or use their artistic expression in a manner that violates their moral or religious beliefs. S* I don’t think anyone has the right the force a business or person to provide services. If the business feels it’s violated their religious beliefs then they should be able to decline the job.
10. Keeping the flat income tax rate in Arizona’s state tax code. S* I like the idea of a flat tax!
11. Requiring any government entity, including schools, to inform parents about their child’s physical, emotional, or mental health. S* Children belong to their parents and families NOT THE GOVERNMENT! The government should never keep any information away from the parents. If there is an issue regarding their child the parent should be informed immediately
12. Establishing electric retail competition to eliminate the current monopoly system for electric utilities. O* In theory it sounds great! However after getting into all the facts and discussing the pros and cons ultimately at this time it would cost more and reduce reliability. I cannot have my senior citizens and low income families paying more and getting less service. I do not support this at this time.
