Alexander Kolodin is a civil and constitutional attorney who has won a variety of high-profile victories for conservatives in the courtroom. In his first term, he brought his legal expertise to the state house, sponsoring successful legislation to improve the security of Arizona’s election system, protect civil liberties, and safeguard Arizona’s water supply. He lives in Scottsdale with his wife (a teacher at Basis Scottsdale) and their two children.

Prime sponsorships of legislation signed into law:

Bill preventing military overseas voters from being disenfranchised by an act of Congress, enacting, for the first time, legally binding rules for signature verification of early ballots, requiring that system log files to be posted on line, and mandating that election-day drop-offs be “hard” counted.

*. Bill requiring elections officials to reject petition sheets for new political party registration that contained signatures that were more than twenty-four months old.

*Bill allowing students at state university to opt-out of funding organizations that go against their religious beliefs.

*Bill reducing the burden of administrative fees on early-career healthcare professionals.

Other legislative achievements:

* Sponsored successful amendment to unrelated water legislation resolving the Rio Verde Foothills Water crisis and setting a new precedent for addressing Arizona’s water issues.

* Sponsored successful strike-everything amendment overhauling Arizona’s probate system to crack down on medical kidnapping.

* Negotiated deal with Runbeck elections services to put in place internal election integrity protocols for the 2024 election cycle as a result of investigation into 2022 election.

* Major contributor to Arizona’s first tax refund in decades.

* Republican Liberty Caucus Rookie of the Year.
