Biographical Info:

I am an Arizona native who grew up and attended school here in Arizona. My father is a retired Arizona educator, so education and public service have always been an important part of my life. When my own children started school, I felt called to become more involved and help make a difference in our community. I believe parents are the primary advocates for their children and should be informed and involved in what is being taught in our schools. I am passionate about putting students first, supporting teachers and families, encouraging strong academic achievement and athletics, and maintaining safe, healthy school environments. I want to see Arizona’s public schools thrive while staying focused on what matters most: helping every student succeed.

Statement:

I am running for re-election because I believe our students deserve strong schools where academics, character, and safety are a priority. When my children started school, I felt called to get involved because I believe parents have a responsibility to know what is happening in their children’s schools and what they are being taught. Parents should have a strong voice in their children’s education.

I am proud to support strong academic outcomes, excellent athletics, parental involvement, and safe and healthy school environments. I believe we should support our teachers and encourage parents to get involved in their children’s education. I want to continue serving our community, putting students first, being a strong voice for families, and helping our public schools thrive.

Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Requiring district and charter school officials, including teachers, to inform parents about their child’s social, mental, emotional, or physical health. S
2. Allowing parents to opt their children out of activities or lessons that offend their personal, moral, or religious beliefs. S* Absolutely parents should have the ultimate say in what is being taught to their children.
3. Increasing state and local taxes to provide more funding for schools and school facility projects. O
4. Requiring signed permission from a parent before a student may participate in any sexuality related instruction, activities, or clubs. S* I first of all do not think that anything sexuality related should not even be being taught in schools. But if it were then definitely a parent should have to sign off on what is being taught.
5. Allowing all parents to use tax credits and publicly funded empowerment scholarship accounts to enable their children to attend any private, homeschool, or online academy of their choice. S
6. Making available books and instructional materials that include sexually explicit images and themes in school classrooms and libraries. O* As a current member of the QCUSD governing board we recently voted to audit all school and classroom libraries and to remove any books or instructional materials that have any sexually explicit content from school and classroom libraries.
7. Acquiring parental consent for school faculty and staff to refer to students by pronouns that do not align with the student’s birth sex. S
8. Allocating teacher pay raises based upon merit rather than providing uniform salary schedule increases based upon years of teaching or additional credentialing (e.g. master’s degrees). S
9. Implementing policies to allow students and faculty to use the restroom, locker room, and shower room based on self-identification rather than biological sex. O* In QCUSD our board already has strict policies in place that only allows students/staff to use restrooms/locker rooms based on their biological sex assigned at birth.
10. Teaching what is known as diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI); social, emotional learning (SEL); or critical race theory (CRT) in public schools. O
11. Requiring each district and charter school to post online a list of all curriculum and instructional materials being used in the classroom. S
