Meet the Candidate

Running For:
County Attorney
Political Affiliation:
ASU - Juris Doctor, summa cum laude; GSU - Bachelor of Science, Criminal Justice, cum laude
Happily married to a brilliant, supportive wife with two fur babies named Mackenzie and Pee-Wee.
I’m running for Maricopa County Attorney because I’ve been directly impacted by our criminal justice system. I’ve seen first hand the consequences of our mass incarceration crisis, and I believe Maricopa County deserves a leader who promotes public safety through evidence based, fiscally responsible, smart justice policies. The most consistently proven method for reducing crime and recidivism is education and economic opportunity. Republicans and Democrats alike agree that we need to prioritize reentry and rehabilitation over plain retribution in order to break the never ending cycle of recidivism.

Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Denying federal funding to “sanctuary cities” that do not comply with federal immigration laws O* Detention centers are the third most dangerous hotspot, right behind nursing homes and medical facilities. This is not the time to quibble over immigration enforcement.
2. Allowing all parents to use tax credits, vouchers, or education savings accounts to enable children to attend any public, charter, private, homeschool, or online academy O
3. Expanding background checks to include guns purchased from private individuals S* Public safety is a top priority, and intimate partner violence is on the rise. Preventing prohibited possessors from accessing firearms is worth minor regulatory inconvenience.
4. Using taxpayer funds to support any organization that provides, promotes, or provides referrals for abortion S* The government has no business interfering with a medical provider’s judgment in recommending whatever valid treatment option is most appropriate for their patient.
5. Prohibiting abortion except when it is necessary to prevent the death of the mother O* Reproductive liberty is a fundamental right. This has been settled for 50 years.
6. Providing tax breaks to certain industries over others O* Arbitrary tax breaks are unfair, and they invite corruption and cronyism. I do support transparent and thoroughly researched tax incentives when deployed fairly and purposefully.
7. Adding “sexual orientation,” “gender identity,” or “gender expression” to the protected classes of race, religion, age, sex, and ancestry in nondiscrimination ordinances S* Treating others with respect, dignity, and equality costs nothing. Discrimination, on the other hand, costs so much.
8. Protecting a parent's right to seek professional counseling for their minor child with same-sex attraction or gender identity issues to help them reach their desired outcome O* We should love our children for who they are, not who you wish them to be.
9. Setting minimum wages above the state minimum wage S
10. Protecting individuals and businesses from being required to use their artistic expression in a manner that violates their conscience O* Again, I support equal treatment for all people in spaces of public accommodations.
