Statement:

I have been called to serve my community and have been doing so as a Pastor (37 yrs), Community Volunteer (over 3 decades), Nonprofit Director of For Our City – Chandler (10 yrs), City Commissioner (7 years), City Councilmember (9 yrs), Chandler Vice Mayor (twice appointed by Council) and Chandler Mayor (4th year of my 1st term)
I have a passion for all things Chandler, am approachable, involved and keep a high profile at events in Chandler and beyond.

I love serving my community as Mayor and was able to do many great things for the community during my first term such as lead well through the pandemic without mandatory mask mandates, give guidance and negotiate expansions of companies like Intel, work with SRP to underground power lines, bring more jobs, corporate expansions and corporate headquarters to Chandler than ever before.

I am the only one in the race with experience and understanding of Chandler and the overall community. I have built healthy relationships with neighboring Mayors and Councils, cities, towns, tribe, local schools, state government, our Congressmen, Senators and our Governor.

This next term I will be working with issues like the following:
1. job retention and hiring with our police, fire and overall city services,
2. addressing our housing crunch,
3. keeping us fiscally sound as a city,
4. keeping our neighborhoods safe and awesome,
5. supporting local small businesses and large corporations like Intel and
6. keeping Chandler clean, safe, responsible and prosperous for all.

I will continue building a better community and a stronger Chandler
During my first term in office, Chandler has seen great recovery and prosperity. I am committed to pursue this for all.

Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Denying government funding to "sanctuary cities" that do not comply with federal immigration laws S
2. Allowing all parents to use tax credits, vouchers, or education savings accounts to enable children to attend any public, charter, private, homeschool, or online academy S
3. Expanding background checks to include guns purchased from private individuals S* I am (well used to be when I had more time) a hunter and own guns. There needs to be a better and more thorough mechanism of keeping guns out of the hands of those who intend to do misguided evil.
4. Using taxpayer funds to support any organization that provides, promotes, or provides referrals for abortion O
5. Prohibiting abortion except when it is necessary to prevent the death of the mother S
6. Providing tax breaks to certain industries over others S* Some industries with high wages and presence have an economic multiplier that creates more jobs and money for local schools. I support wisely using City funds to selectively support some industries and companies.
7. Adding "sexual orientation," "gender identity," or "gender expression" to the protected classes of race, religion, age, sex, and ancestry in nondiscrimination ordinances O
8. Protecting a parent's right to seek professional counseling for their minor child with same-sex attraction or gender identity issues to help them reach their desired outcome S
9. Setting minimum wage above the state minimum wage O* We are in a crazy time of inflation, hiring and job retention. Regardless of what the state minimum wage is, I support businesses and local government doing whatever they need to do to hire.
10. Protecting individuals and businesses from being required to use their artistic expression in a manner that violates their conscience S
11. Requiring any government entity, including schools, to inform parents about their child’s physical, emotional, or mental health S
12. Establishing electric retail competition to eliminate the current monopoly system for electric utilities O* Deregulation has not worked well in states like Texas. I want to make sure that Az continues to have relatively cheap and thoroughly reliable power AND not sold to out of state entities who might be more wiling to pay more than we currently do. Protect Az residents and businesses, especially during peak times in the summer.
